We don't design gear for the weekend warrior. We design gear for the people who make their living in the most unforgiving environments on Earth.
The difference between a successful expedition and a life-threatening emergency often comes down to equipment. At -40°F with 60mph winds, synthetic materials shatter. Lightweight zippers blow out. Generic gear fails.
Alaska Gear Company was born out of necessity. When off-the-shelf equipment couldn't survive a single season on the North Slope or a winter in the Brooks Range, we built our own. We use Heavy Molecular Weight Polyethylene for our sleds because it doesn't crack in extreme cold. We use specialized vapor-permeable canvas for our hot tents to manage condensation before it turns to ice.
We don't chase trends. We don't care about "ultralight" if it compromises durability. We care about one thing: bringing you back alive.
If a feature doesn't serve a critical function in the field, we remove it. Complexity breeds failure.
We use heavier denier fabrics, industrial stitching, and thicker poly because Alaska demands it.
